Saturday’s 2010 Hobartville Stakes Final Field & Preview

Sydney’s Rosehill Racecourse is gearing up to host their next illustrious autumn carnival raceday this Saturday. The cracker meeting features three Group status events headlined by the $200, 000 Group 2 Schweppes Hobartville Stakes (1400m).

The 2010 Hobartville Stakes has drawn a top-class field of 13 three-year-olds with the Gai Waterhouse-trained Manhattan Rain installed as the warm favourite at $2.35 with Sportsbet.com.au. The improving son of Encosta De Lago will jump from barrier five with champion hoop Blake Shinn aboard.

Randwick trainer Waterhouse also has Viking Legend starting in the Hobartville Stakes. The Elvstroem colt coming off a gallant third to Shoot Out in the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes will start on the outside of their stable mate in barrier six.

The current second favourite at $6 is the David Payne-trained More Than Great. More Than Great has won three of his nine race starts but has drawn wide in barrier 12 for Saturday.

Shoot Out, last start winner in the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes, is sitting closely on the third line of betting at $6.50. The John Wallace-trained High Chaparral gelding has drawn barrier eight in the Hobartville Stakes and will have Stathi Katsidis aboard.

Jumping on the inside of Shoot Out on Saturday is the Peter Snowden-trained Kidnapped. Kidnapped, currently a $9 chance, displayed excellent form late last year taking out the Sandown Guineas and the Carbine Club Stakes.

Also keep an eye on the up-and-coming Sir Hallowell trained by David Harrison. The More Than Ready colt has won two of their three career starts and is stepping up in class on Saturday hoping to prove himself at Group level.

The other Group features at the meeting are the $200, 000 Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes where boom filly Chance Bye will start as the clear favourite; and the $125, 000 Group 3 Millie Fox Stakes running as race four.

The 2010 Hobartville Stakes is programmed as the sixth race on the day’s bumper eight-event schedule and will jump at 3:55pm.
