This weekend, aside from the exciting racing action taking place at Randwick on Doncaster Mile Day, Perth?s Ascot racecourse are also hosting a brilliant day?s racing.
The headline event on Ascot?s eight-race card for Saturday will be the $500,000 Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m), featuring a capacity field of promising two-year-olds.
Peter Moody?s up-and-coming filly Miss Gai Flyer is the clear pre-race favourite for the 2010 Go for 2&5 Karrakatta Plate, currently at $4.20 for a win with [iasbet].
A winner of two from her three starts, the Flying Spur filly also ran a solid fifth in the Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes two starts back and will jump from barrier 11 on Saturday with Luke Currie aboard.
With a 16 horse field, there a plenty of other top chances in the race as well that will be putting up a challenge for the win.
Other promising youngsters include unbeaten gelding Riosand (barrier 14) coming off an impressive victory in the Listed Perth Stakes (1100m), the Jim Taylor-trained Miss Condition (barrier 16), and improving Trade Fair filly Absolute Pleasure (barrier 3) all sitting as equal second favourites at $6.
Following closely in the betting markets are Perth Stakes runner-up Big Josh (barrier 4), and the David Casey-trained Motion Pictures drawn ideally in barrier two at $6.50.
The 2010 Karrakatta Plate is scheduled as race 7 on Saturday and the other big event at the meeting will be the $250,000 Group 3 WA Oaks (2400m) featuring eight quality three-year-old fillies.
Hot favourite at $1.90 in the 2010 WA Oaks is Impressive Jeuney coming off a last start victory in the Listed Natasha Stakes (2200m) at the same track.
