Today Racing Victoria released 2010 Emirates Stakes final field and barrier draw for the final Melbourne Cup Carnival feature, due to light up the Flemington track this Saturday November 6.
The $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) has drawn a capacity field of 16 gallopers plus four emergencies, making for a top-class showdown to enjoy a punt on through Luxbet.
Topweight in the Emirates Stakes field is the Con Karakatsanis-trained Black Piranha, the veteran seven-year-old set to carry 58kg with Corey Brown aboard for his 51st career start.
The next heaviest weighted runner is Sniper’s Bullet with 57kg, drawn out wide with barrier 15.
A number of gallopers will back up from runs in the Cox Plate this Saturday including New Zealand’s top stayer Wall Street, Epsom Handicap winner Captain Sonador, Peter Thompson’s Trusting and Macau galloper Luen Yat Forever.
Captain Sonador looks one of the top picks in the Emirates with the drop back in distance to 1600m, the same distance they claimed their Epsom victory over two starts back.
Last start winners likely to be at the top of the Emirates Stakes odds include Mark Kavanagh’s Crystal Mile champion Sound Journey drawn well in barrier five and Queensland galloper Rothera who won the Moonga Stakes on a Heavy Caulfield track on Caulfield Cup day.
Other notable Emirates Stakes acceptors include Peter Snowden’s Redoute’s Choice five-year-old Drumbeats coming off a third in the Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley and Blazer Stakes winning mare Palacio De Cristal looking to improve on her last start failure in the Myer Classic where she didn’t handle the soft track conditions.
Emirates Stakes betting is set to open at Luxbet shortly, so get ready to back your favourites at the best odds by opening an account with this Tabcorp-owned and trusted bookmaker today!
