A bumper Australia Day race card at Caulfield tomorrow, Wednesday January 26, is highlighted by the first official lead-up race for two-year-old colts and geldings vying for a start in the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes and here we give the best 2011 Blue Diamond Preview (C&G) betting tips.
The $100,000 Listed Blue Diamond Preview for Colts & Geldings (1000m) is scheduled to run as Caulfield Race 3 at 2:12pm (AEDST) tomorrow and features a nine-horse field following the early scratching of #7 Boys On Tour.
The red hot favourite in the Blue Diamond Preview Luxbet markets is #2 Golden Archer paying a short $2.25 to win.
Golden Archer is a well-bred Rock Of Gibralter colt who remains unbeaten winning both their career starts to date.
The Peter Moody-trained juvenile won on debut at Flemington from a wide barrier 13 draw on December 11 then backed up with a 1000m sprint victory at the Caulfield track on Boxing Day carrying a hefty 57.5kg.
Tomorrow Golden Archer jumps from barrier seven and drops back to 55.5kg and they look hard to beat.
We are sticking with the favourite in Caulfield Race 3 tomorrow and fancy Golden Archer to maintain his unbeaten record with another win on way to the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes showdown on February 26.
Caulfield Race 3 – 2011 Blue Diamond Preview (C&G) Tips
- Races.com.au Favourite: #2 Golden Archer – Rated Special to Win at $2.25 through Luxbet
- Best Place Bets: #9 Fastnet Prince and #10 Secret Hills
Two-year-old races are notoriously hard to pick and that’s where punters can find great value tomorrow.
To finish second and third behind the favourite we have selected two roughies that will pay well for the Trifecta if successful.
Firstly Fastnet Prince, sitting around $15 in the Luxbet odds, represents excellent value.
Prepared by Mark Kavanagh the unraced Fastnet Rock colt is a relative unknown which is why the punters haven’t jumped on them, but word at the track is they have been galloping well and should produce a strong finish.
The other runner we rate to Place in the Blue Diamond Preview is Secret Hills, also nice value in the market at $13 to win and $4 to place.
Drawn well in barrier three, the Mick Price-trained Starcraft colt is also on debut.
