Fiery three-year-old colt Masquerader will tackle this year’s 2011 Royal Sovereign Stakes as likely starting price favourite.
The Royal Sovereign Stakes will be his first up start this season and punters have backed him in strongly to a current Luxbet fixed price of $3.60.
In two previous first up races he has had one win and a second place leading to few concerns of the colt being short of a run.
So far during his six race career he’s powered to two wins and two placings but there may be some concern in terms of recent form.
Masquerader hasn’t won a race since March 2010 which was only his second event after he won on debut as well.
However his last start third in the Group one Caulfield Guineas amidst a quality field attracted the attention of many people.
It will be very interesting to see if Masquerader can go on with the from he’s shown in patches during his short career and he will have to fight off some big challenges.
Pressday at $4.00 is battling for favouritism ahead of Ilovethiscity, Top Drop and Master Harry which are all comfortably under the $10 mark.
Masquerader has drawn barrier one though which will give him a distinct advantage from the barrier 11 placed Pressday.
It’s certainly going to be close to see who jumps as favourite though so for up to date information as it happens and the best odds of any bookie make sure you join Luxbet now!
