One Last Dance Withdrawn from 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes

Peter Moody’s unbeaten filly One Last Dance has been a shock withdrawal from the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes this morning.

Leading Victorian trainer Moody advised Racing Victoria stewards that One Last Dance would not contest the $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 26.

One Last Dance will instead be sent for a spell after she kept her flawless record intact last Saturday winning the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude for Fillies in fine style at Caulfield.

Her victory came moments after Peter Snowden’s champion two-year-old Sepoy ran his rivals ragged in the Blue Diamond Colts & Geldings Preview.

The 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes was shaping up as an entertaining showdown between the two unbeaten juveniles.

A talented daughter of Encosta De Lago, One Last Dance was paying $6.50 at Luxbet as the second favourite behind top two-year-old colt Sepoy in the early Blue Diamond Stakes betting markets.

Moody still has six two-year-olds from his stables among the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes third acceptors with Hallowell Belle (18th), Metonymy (19th), Soul Mama (24th), Covered In Class (25th), Amour Cache (30th) and Eclair Desire (31st) all vying for a spot in the field but still outside of the guaranteed 16 runners in the order of entry.

Amour Cache is set to run in the $250,000 2YO Inglis Premier (1200m) at Mornington tomorrow and has also been nominated for the $100,000 Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on Saturday along with Covered In Class.

There is also a chance that connections will pay the $55,000 late entry by midday next Monday February 21 for the Moody-trained Golden Archer to run in the Blue Diamond Stakes.

Up-and-coming Rock Of Gibraltar colt Gold Archer bought his career record up to an impressive three wins from four starts scoring victory in the Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes (1200m) in Tasmanian on February 10.

Following the withdrawal of One Last Dance, Sepoy has further firmed in the Blue Diamond odds now paying $1.80.

Moody’s Blue Diamond Prelude third placegetter, Starcraft filly Hallowell Belle is now the $9 second favourite in the markets followed by Delago’s Lad and Satin Shoes at $13 through Luxbet.

The 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes final field of acceptors will be released next Tuesday, February 22 and published here at Races.com.au.
