Lightning Stakes Day Race 1 – 2011 Talindert Stakes Field & Betting Update

Flemington Racecourse is gearing up for the cracker Lightning Stakes Day race programme lighting up the track today and with the opening race due to jump at 12:50pm (AEDST) the Races.com.au team take a look at the Talindert Stakes field and betting updates.

The $100,000 Talindert Stakes (1100m) will see a collection of promising two-year-olds face off, six of which are out to gain an entry into the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes field with a win in Flemington Race 1 today.

The 2011 Talindert Stakes field now features 10 juveniles following the early scratching of #4 Gone Skiing.

Gone Skiing was drawn in barrier two for today’s opening Lightning Stakes Day race, meaning all the remaining runners with the exception of Riverbank on the rails will move in.

Favourite in the Talindert Stakes betting odds at Luxbet is #10 Anevay paying $2.70.

One Last Dance narrowly beats Anevay

One Last Dance narrowly won the Blue Diamond Fillies Preview from Anevay (inside), who will be looking to improve in the Talindert Stakes today

Tim Martin’s Exceed And Excel filly Anevay is coming off a narrow second place finish behind One Last Dance in the Blue Diamond Fillies Preview (1000m) at Caulfield on January 26.

One of the 53kg lightweights, Anevay moves into barrier eight in the Talindert and will be ridden by Nicholas Hall.

Based on her two speedy career performances to date, Anevay is likely to hit the front early and try to lead all-the-way but with Hollyweird confirmed as a Talindert Stakes starter, there is money coming in for an upset.

The Gerald Rayn-trained Snitzel filly Hollyweird is the current $4 second favourite in the Talindert Stakes betting at Luxbet.

She moves into barrier four, an ideal draw, and is the best tried runner with four race starts that have produced two wins to her name.

Last start Hollyweird ran third behind the explosive debutant Atomic in the Listed Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) at Sandown on February 9.

At good odds Hollyweird is our tip to win.

Redangelo has also firmed in the market into $8 from $8.50 and is the only Blue Diamond Stakes entry assured of a start in the $1 million showdown next weekend regardless of the Talindert Stakes result.

Luxbet has also seen money come in for Ervbefel now at a quote of $9.

Set to start from barrier three the Cranbourne-based filly advantages from having jockey of the moment Craig Williams in the mount who was also aboard for her brilliant win on debut at Ballarat on February 3.

Stay tuned to Races.com.au throughout the day for all the latest Lightning Stakes Day betting and field updates and race results.
