Sepoy Draws Five in 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes Barriers

Sepoy

Race favourite Sepoy has drawn barrie 5 for the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes

The 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes Barrier Draw has taken place with Sepoy drawing ideally, now likely to start the shortest-price Blue Diamond Stakes favourite in 30 years when he lines up in $1 million showdown at Caulfield this Saturday.

Fourteen two-year-olds make up this year’s Blue Diamond Stakes final field with acceptances taken this morning.

The barrier draw for Victoria’s premier two-year-olds showdown was then conducted with the Peter Snowden-trained Sepoy drawing favourably with barrier five and due to be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy.

Unbeaten in his three career starts to date, Elusive Quality colt Sepoy is now set to firm even further in the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes odds at Luxbet.

Peter Moody’s two Blue Diamond Stakes acceptors Hallowell Belle and Metonymy have drawn either side of the favourite, the fillies set to start from barriers four and six respectively.

Another top fancy in the Blue Diamond Stakes betting markets, Hallowell Belle will have in-form hoop Craig Williams in the mount while stablemate Metonymy will be ridden by Luke Nolen.

Coming up trumps with the two inside barriers for Saturday’s Blue Diamond were Running Tall and Atomic.

The Danny O’Brien-trained Stratum colt Running Tall is coming off a game second behind Sepoy in the Blue Diamond Prelude and will have the inside running from gate one with Ben Melham booked for the ride.

Lee Freedman’s late Blue Diamond Stakes entry Atomic will have their share of admirers on Saturday as the Commands colt lines up for their second race start after winning the Listed Chairman’s Stakes on debut on February 9.

Atomic will jump from barrier two with Craig Newitt in the mount.

Suffering a blow with wide Blue Diamond Stakes barriers are Cranbourne-based filly Spectrolite (barrier 14), the Lee Freedman-trained Masthead (barrier 13), John Thompson’s Helping Hand (barrier 12) and Dash For Cash colt Grand Britannia (barrier 11).
