This Saturday March 26 Rosehill Gardens will host the latest Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival meeting, one of the day’s major events being the $175,000 Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m).
The 2011 Magic Night Stakes nominations have been released with 17 two-year-old fillies making up the early entries for the race offering a Golden Slipper ballot exemption for the winner.
Leading the list of nominees is the John Thompson-trained Pane In The Glass.
After winning her first three career starts including the Inglis Nursery / Inglis Classic double, Testa Rossa filly Pane In The Glass most recently ran a game third to Shared Reflections in the Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on March 12.
Pane In The Glass, along with the other top Magic Night Stakes nominees, is heading towards a run in the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on April 2.
Currently Luxbet have Pane In The Glass as a $26 chance in their futures Golden Slipper Stakes Field & Odds for 2011.
Another notable Magic Night Stakes entry is the Chris Waller-trained Fast And Sexy.
Last Saturday the daughter of Fastnet Rock finished an eye-catching third behind upset winner Elite Falls and beaten favourite Satin Shoes in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.
This saw Fast And Sexy shoot up the Golden Slipper odds at Luxbet, still paying a generous $41 to win the premier juveniles showdown.
After his main slipper chance Satin Shoes failed to win on the weekend, top trainer Clarry Conners will attempt to get Bright Heart into the Golden Slipper field via the Magic Night Stakes.
The Dane Shadow filly earned a look at for the Slipper after she ran a solid third behind You’re Canny and Karuta Queen in the Listed Black Opal Stakes (1200m) at Canberra on March 13.
A $151 outsider in the Golden Slipper Luxbet odds, Bright Heart needs a win in the Magic Night Stakes to propel her into the Slipper and Conners will add blinkers to her gear in an attempt to do so.
The other major Golden Slipper hopeful nominated for Saturday’s Magic Night Stakes is the Peter Snowden-trained Aerobatics.
Stablemate to Golden Slipper favourite Sepoy, out to $2.80 to win the Slipper at Luxbet after suffering his first defeat in the Todman Stakes on the weekend, Exceed And Excel filly Aerobatics is currently paying $26 in the market.
She won on debut back in November last year before resuming with a first-up fifth in the Sweet Embrace Stakes.
Sweet Embrace Stakes runner-up Streama is also set to back up in the Magic Night, the $51 Golden Slipper roughie prepared by Guy Walter at Warwick Farm.
The 2011 Magic Night Stakes final field and barrier draw is released tomorrow and Races.com.au will be the first to publish the list of acceptors followed by the betting odds and tips.
Now is the time to lock in your Golden Slipper bets at the best prices before the Saturday Rosehill race results affect the market.
