A Time For Julia has registered her first win at Group level after claiming the 2014 Bellmaine Stakes at Caulfield today.
Having led around the final turn, the Redoute’s Choice mare drew clear with 200m to run before a spirited fight from Danestroem was left a little too late by jockey Brad Rawiller, claiming a close second from Bonaria in third.
Trainer Peter Moody, who claimed back to back victories to close the Caulfield card, was delighted with the run produced by the pre-post market mover, and was quick to praise the skill of his team in delivering such a success event.
“There is nothing like playing at home and we had all the advantages today” Moody said immediately following the win.
“The team has performed well.
“This mare has a hell of a pedigree and it was a very deserved group win for her.”
A busy Autumn is now well and truly on the cards for the talented four-year-old, with Moody outlining a tilt at leading Adelaide events the Group 1 Robert Sangster Classic (1200m) on April 26th and the Group 1 Goodwin (1200m) on May 10th.
Jockey Luke Nolen also secured two wins in-a-row after guiding Moment Of Change to the C.F Orr Stakes, and has been happy with his quick return to form following time out of the saddle and was quick to praise his Bellmaine partner.
“There is probably no more deserving mare in that race to win – she has been a victim of bad luck a couple of times and I was glad to see her bring that excellent work of a morning to the races and showcase it” Nolen said.
“All you can do is give them a chance and the rest of it takes care of itself.
“Hopefully it is the start of what is going to be a fruitful autumn for us”.
