Punters looking to bet against Chris Waller this Saturday may want to steer clear of the “HQ Of Insurance” Handicap (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.
Nine horses are running in the Benchmark 95 race, six of which are based at Waller’s training ground.
You’ll Never and Amovatio are co-favourites in the Ladbrokes.com.au betting market, offering odds of $3.80, followed by Phythagorean ($5), Index Lined ($12), Black Jag ($16), and Hoylonny ($26).
Waller’s Racing Manager Liam Prior jokingly told Racing Network on Thursday that he will need to “contract out some help” for saddling duties in the Saturday race before confirming that all six are set to run.
He noted that the majority of the six horses need to run in the handicap to prepare them from summer targets in the coming weeks, which is why they all accepted for the one race.
You’ll Never will jump from barrier four with Blake Shin to ride and could back up in the Group 2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) the following Saturday should he win on Saturday while Amovatio will have to overcome a wide start from barrier nine.
“Hoylonny missed the run last week when a late scratching at the barrier, so he has to run and You’ll Never, if he was to win, we’d back him up in the Villiers the following week,” Prior said.
“Index Linked is ready to go to the races, while Black Jag is another ready to go and his rating is low enough to get him ready for races at a suitable distance.
“Pythagorean is coming off a Goulburn Cup win, but he has to run and Amovatio looks really well suited here, perhaps better placed here than the Villiers the following week.”
Dooleys Handicap winner Hoylonny was allocated the top weight of 61kg in the race but after apprentice jockey Lester Grace made his claim he will ride with just 52kg.
Last start winner of the Goulburn Cup (1600m), Pythagorean will enjoy the inside run from barrier one.
