Hijack Hussy is one of the headline entries taken by Racing Queensland this week for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 2015 on the Gold Coast next month.
Tony Gollan’s Brisbane-based Hussonet filly is one of 110 nominations for next year’s edition of the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m), the set weights plus penalties clash to run alongside a host of other Magic Millions-restricted races on January 10.
A winner of three of her eight starts to date, Hijack Hussy is best known for her Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) victory at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day last month.
She backed up from that last Saturday at Doomben and was brave in defeat when third behind Savoureux in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m).
Another Magic Millions 3YO Guineas hopeful coming via the Mode Plate was runner-up Tales Of Fashion who was defeated just a long neck in the $100,000 feature.
Prepared on the Gold Coast by Trevor Bailey, Tale Of The Cat filly Tales Of Fashion is also a stakes winner having beaten a credible field at Doomben on May 17 in the Listed Lancaster Stakes (1200m) during the winter carnival.
Along with Hijack Hussy, Gollan has eight other Magic Millions Guineas hopefuls for his home track next month including Breakfast Creek Stakes winner Fixation out to improve on some poor spring form at home over the past month.
The other headline Magic Millions 3YO Guineas nominee meanwhile is the Brendan McCarthy-trained Murt The Flirt.
The Caulfield-based Murtajill gelding debuted on November 22 in the Ballarat Magic Millions 3YO Classic over 1100m and, despite being inconvenienced at the start, displayed a nice turn of foot to draw clear on the line and beat home Boundary by a length.
He next races Thursday week on December 18 in the $100,000 Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes (1200m) that produced this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Guineas winner Sweet Idea who completed the double for Gai Waterhouse.
Waterhouse has nine nominees for the 2015 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas looking to defend her crown including last start winners Loveitt, Our Catch and Pinchme.
Her headline hopeful though is Stratum filly Echo Gal, the Heritage Stakes runner-up last seen running fifth to First Seal when outclassed in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on October 4.
The next three over the line in the Magic Millions 3YO Classic in Sydney behind Murt The Flirt meanwhile are also all nominated for the Gold Coast edition including the Heath Conners-trained runner-up Boundary, the Manhattan Rain filly last seen finishing third over 1400m at Sandown last Saturday.
MM 3YO Classic third placed Guajeo for Mick Price and Matthew Williams’ fourth placed Northern Meteor colt Reigning Meteor meanwhile haven’t raced since last month’s showdown.
Other noteworthy nominees for the lucrative feature include the Gerald Ryan-trained duo of Brazen Moss and Tetsuko, Ruby Soho who ran third to Unencumbered in this year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Group 2 WA Guineas winner in Perth Rommel who finished seventh to Sydney-trained winner Moriarty in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) last weekend, and the David Payne-trained Bold Circle.
