Bewhatyouwannabe jumped from the gates only fairly but managed to settle into a good rhythm and found positive running position off the pace of early leaders Zoomania, Tornado Miss and Laser Hawk who strode the to the fore of the 12 horse field with relative ease.

Continuing to press forward upon reaching the bend, Bewhatyouwannabe tacked onto the back of local chance Epic and found a clear racing line; charging forward in the final 300m and crossing the line ahead of the Kelly Schweida-trained veteran; Trakstar boxing on to complete a Queensland trifecta.

In winning the 2015 Members’ Handicap, Bewhatyouwannabe has not claimed a total of six wins from a 31 start career which has also included ten minor place finishes.

Having placed a close second to Black Jet in the Listed Members’ Cup (1600m) at Doomben on February 28th, the son of Fastnet Rock progressed to first three finishes in the Gold Coast Bulletin BM90 (1800m) and Queensland Accounting Group Handicap (1615m); running fourth in the Listed Tails Stakes (1630m) on April 11th.

Second placegetter Epic has returned for typically competitive results this time and placed fifth in the Listed Prime Minister’s Cup (1400m) on the Gold Coast a fortnight ago.

Saddling Traveston Girl to a third-place finish in the Listed Juanmo Stakes prior to Trakstar’s Members’ Handicap third, Trainer Tony Gollan is offered a shot at Group 1 glory this afternoon when Temple Of Boom lines up for the 2015 BTC Cup (1200m).
