A talented field of 15 has been confirmed for Saturday’s Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes (1200m) on the Gold Coast; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Kaepernick ($3.70) has continued to experience notable attentions from punters in WJ Healy Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au and remains clear favourite for success ahead of Dothraki ($5.50) and Target In Sight ($6.50).
Will Kaepernick justify favouritism and win the 2015 WJ Healy Stakes, or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?
1st
Whittington ($10)
Whittington is a proven performer over the distance, carries winning black type form into the 2015 WJ Healy Stakes and offers exceptional value for success at current $10 odds. Having posted four race wins and a further two minors through 17 career starts, the Tale Of The Cat entire finished fourth in the Listed Bribie Handicap (1000m) on May 16th before taking out the Listed Lightning (1050m) by more than two lengths on May 30th. Confirmed to be partnered by last start jockey Ric McMahon, Whittington will need some luck in running from barrier 15 but will carry only 56kgs.
2nd
Dothraki ($5.50)
Undoubtedly one of the class horses of the 2015 WJ Healy Stakes field, Dothraki will have to overcome 58kgs on Saturday but is sure to be delivered a great ride from veteran Damian Browne. Having won the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) over course and distance last year, the Mossman gelding failed to finish outside the first three in five summer starts which included second place finishes behind Our Boy Malachi in the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) and Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m). Having clearly needed the run when eighth in the Listed Ortensia Stakes (1100m) first-up on May 16th, Dothraki has continued to train on well since and is worth consideration for a bet at current odds.
3rd
Target In Sight ($6.50)
Target In Sight has been a strong and consistent performer for Joe Pride this time in and is sure to be right in the finish of the WJ Healy Stakes from the ideal barrier 3. Having won the Group 3 Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m) first-up on March 14th, the Nadeem gelding has continued to impress in finishing second in each of the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m) and Ortensia Stakes; boxing on for fourth in the Listed June Stakes (1100m) a fortnight ago. Hong Kong-based hoop Zac Purton has been confirmed to take the ride on Target In Sight in the Healy Stakes.
