Peter & Paul Snowden’s returning ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Pride Of Dubai is the headline acceptor for Saturday’s Eskimo Prince Stakes 2016 field at Royal Randwick on Breeders Classic Day.
Due to run as Randwick Race 7 at 4:25pm (AEDT), this season’s $150,000 Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) attracted a final field of 11 three-year-olds.
Carrying the 60.5kg top weight in the set weights plus penalties clash is Street Cry colt Pride Of Dubai, winner of last autumn’s Blue Diamond Stakes – ATC Sires’ Produce double.
He runs first-up from barrier five on the weekend kicking off his autumn campaign that could include a trip to Melbourne for the $750,000 Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 5.
Team Snowden have also accepted for Wolf Cry in the Eskimo Prince Stakes field on Saturday, another son of Street Cry who comes off a Gold Coast Magic Millions Day win in Queensland from January 9.
Group 2 placed when third to Exosphere in last February’s Skyline Stakes at Warwick Farm, Wolf Cry is also 2016 Australian Guineas bound this season and pays $15 in the futures markets for the mile feature through Ladbrokes.com.au.
Following Pride Of Dubai in the Eskimo Prince Stakes weights for Saturday is the John O’Shea-trained Tarquin (59kg) who is drawn well in gate three with James McDonald booked for the ride.
Hard Spun colt Tarquin is also first-up on the weekend having last been seen finishing second over 1400m at Randwick at the start of December.
Winner of the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) last March he was fifth to Pride Of Dubai beaten under three lengths in the Sires’ Produce before his third to Pasadena Girl in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m), so has class.
O’Shea and Godolphin are also represented by Shards in barrier nine, Sam Clipperton riding the dual Group 2 runner-up whose last start was a distant ninth to Tarzino in the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) last October.
After nominating for seven hopefuls, Sydney’s best Chris Waller has just two in the Eskimo Prince with Counterattack and Torgersen jumping from barriers two and four respectively.
Redoute’s Choice colt Counterattack was last seen running third to stablemate Japonisme in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on Victoria Derby Day and has a gun Randwick track record (5-2-2-0).
Waller’s other runner, Pins colt Torgersen meanwhile won back-to-back Sydney races last time in including the narrow victory over Tarquin from December 5.
The rails run belongs to the Gai Waterhouse-trained Zizou colt Zoutenant running for the first time since his second to Exosphere in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) at the track last October, while Voilier backs up from a good Carrington Stake second over 1400m at Randwick on January 23.
