Tosen Stardom remains an outright $6 favourite in 2016 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of The United States and Miss Rose De Lago; currently tied on the second line at $6.50 quotes.
Will Tosen Stardom justify favouritism and win the 2016 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes, or will one of his rivals post an upset?
1st
Mahuta ($7.50)
The Moonee Valley track and pending weather suggest that a horse that settles towards the fore of the field in the 2016 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes will be triumphant, and Mahuta carries excellent form into the feature race. A standout for Darren Weir during the spring of 2015, Mahuta resumed this time for third in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m); progressing to sixth in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) before running third in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield last weekend. The Flying Spur colt represents terrific value at current Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes odds and is more than worth consideration for a bet.
2nd
The Cleaner ($14)
Popular veteran The Cleaner failed to make anything of an impact in the PB Lawrence Stakes first-up, but has won the two most recent editions of the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes and should be right in the finish of the race again on Saturday. The Cleaner progressed to third in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) following his Dato triumph in 2015 before placing a brave seventh in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m). Sure to have taken plenty of benefit from his first-up run, The Cleaner is undoubtedly over the odds at his current quote.
3rd
Suavito ($9.50)
Suavito should be perfectly suited to the conditions of the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes and arguably offers punters the best value for money at current $9.50 odds for success or $3.40 to finish in the first three. A multiple Group 1 winner, Suavito returned to racing this year for an impressive win over classy company in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) before finishing third in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m). While failing to fire in two subsequent autumn starts, the Thorn Park mare returned this time for sixth in the PB Lawrence Stakes and is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from the run.
