Chris Anderson’s last start Listed winner at Eagle Farm Elegant Composure is nominated to return to the track on Saturday for a shot at the Just Now Quality 2016.
One of two Black-Types on the Brisbane card on the weekend, this year’s $100,000 Listed Just Now Quality Handicap (1300m) attracted a bumper 20 nominations on Monday.
A host of in-form fillies and mares are among the early entries including the Anderson-trained daughter of Bradbury’s Luck Elegant Composure.
The five-year-old won the Listed Colin McAlpine Classic (1200m) first-up on November 26 and has an undefeated second-up record to date that she’ll be out to continue if accepted for this weekend.
Third in the same traditional lead-up race, the Steven O’Dea-trained Haradasun six-year-old Beatniks is also entered for the rematch on Saturday in the Just Now Quality.
She also kicked off her latest campaign in the Colin McAlpine and was under two lengths beaten, the mare chasing her first win since March and her first ever Eagle Farm success.
Along with Elegant Composure other notable last-start winners nominated for the weekend’s feature race include Girl Sunday for Sydney’s Gerald Ryan and the Matthew Dunn-trained Madotti.
Rosehill visitor Girl Sunday is a four-year-old daughter of Encosta De Lago who comes off back-to-back Sydney wins over 1300m and 1400m respectively.
Her overall career record stands at four wins and a second from nine starts and if she makes the trip north on Saturday it will be her maiden run outside of New South Wales.
Madotti meanwhile has previous Brisbane race experience.
The Murwillumbah-trained Falvelon four-year-old competed at both Eagle Farm and Doomben over the winter and was last seen winning first-up under big kilos (60kg) over 1200m at Rosehill on November 26.
The highest-rated of the entries is the Barry Lockwood-trained Hidden Pearl.
She has won two from three at the track and comes off a close fourth to Londehero over 1200m here from September 24.
Lockwood has also entered Shower Of Hearts for a first-up run and the lightly-raced Tumbler who has won four of her five career starts including a 1000m sprint at Eagle Farm by two lengths on November 9.
Other notable hopes include the Chris Waller-trained Echo Gal, the in-form My Diamantine and the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Ravi.
Four-year-old Redoute’s Choice mare Ravi comes off a Randwick trial win over Ecuador and has been racing competitively over the season.
Her best effort of late was a first-up second at Rosehill on September 10 behind Heavens Above in the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m).
She has won four of her 10 career starts including two from three over the distance.
