This afternoon the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic 2016 will steal the show on the New South Wales’ Central Coast, betting tips and the updated odds on the restricted feature found below.
Running as Wyong Race 6 at 4:25pm (AEDT), this year’s $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1100m) field is down to nine runners after the scratchings of Falconic (11), Undaunted (12) and Deneeky (1).
Current favourite in the Magic Millions Wyong Classic odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $2.40 and firming fast is the unraced Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Snitzel filly Dinnigan.
She trialled beautifully at Randwick on December 13 with a 4.3 length winning hit-out over 735m with Tommy Berry aboard ahead of her first-up run today.
Berry retains the ride for the filly’s debut where she will jump from barrier six on way to the $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) in Queensland on January 14.
Dinnigan occupies the second line of all-in Gold Coast Magic Millions Classic betting paying $8 after her impressive trial and can shoot to the top of those futures markets with a win at Wyong.
Current favourite for next month’s $2 million race is the Lindsay Park-trained Madeenaty ($5) who also races at Wyong this afternoon.
The Exceed And Excel filly has only ever raced down the Flemington straight in Melbourne and so has her first start the right-handed way of racing today.
After winning the Listed Maribyrnong Trial (1000m) by over two lengths on October 2, Madeenaty returned to the track and distance on Melbourne Cup Day and ran third to Invincible Star in Group 3 company.
She occupies the second line of Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic betting at $2.80 and jockey Mark Zahra is confident she can return to winning form.
So will the two top fancies run the quinella or is there value tipping an upset Wyong Magic Millions Classic result this summer?
1st
#8 Madame Moustache ($13)
At double-figures the value has to be this Hinchinbrook filly from Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller. She looks way overs considering she’s a proven winner this way of going and is drawn barrier one. Brenton Avdulla rides on 54.5kg in her first start since she carried 55kg from the inside alley over 1000m at Randwick in mid-October. Before that in her debut she ran fourth beaten only 1.4 lengths by Jorda at the same track and distance in Black-Type company, also from the inside alley. Right draw, trialled fourth behind Dinnigan on December 13 and will improve off that.
2nd
#12 Dinnigan ($2.40)
The money is coming hard and fast for Waterhouse’s impressive trial winner who has to bring that form to the races now. The blitz in the hit-out suggests she’ll be fine at 1100m first-up and Berry knows the filly. Always unknown these two-year-olds, but did enough to back in the top two for sure.
3rd
#7 Madeenaty ($2.80)
Slight query on how this Magic Millions Gold Coast Classic favourite will go the Sydney way of racing. Jockey Zahra is not concerned however and in a small field with class and black-type winning form on her side she should be able to race up to expectations again.
