This summer’s $1 million It’s Live! In Queensland Magic Millions Fillies & Mares (1300m) event is scheduled to run as Gold Coast Race 5 at 2:00pm (AEST) and Egyptian Symbol shapes up as the one to beat.

Drawn in barrier five with Brenton Avdulla to ride, the in-form Stratum four-year-old comes off an impressive win as the odds-on favourite in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes over 1200m on December 22.

A Group 3 winner who has run third in both her Gold Coast assignments so far, Egyptian Symbol was placed behind Mahuta in the Magic Millions Guineas last year and returns for redemption this season.

She has the punters’ love already firming in Magic Millions Fillies & Mares betting from $3.70 to $3.40, gets the run of the race and over these metres will be hard to beat.

Her biggest danger looking at the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares odds paying $5.50 for the win is Private Secretary drawn out wide (17).

The Gregory Hickman-trained Husson mare ran third to I Am Zelady in this race back in 2016 and has been racing consistently since.

Group 1 performed, she was last seen running second in the Listed Colin McAlpine Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm in late September.

She’s got a wide gate to overcome, but the metres (5-2-2-1) and track suit plus her recent Warwick Farm trial caught the eye so she is ready to go.

A further two mares are also under double-figures to take out this year’s Magic Millions Fillies & Mares race with Pioneering ($7.50) and Kinshachi ($8.50) also boasting claims at the title.

Sydney’s top horseman Chris Waller brings over his four-year-old Sebring mare Pioneering who ran only a quarter-length away fourth over 1200m at Rosehill last time out on Christmas Eve.

She was tested under 59.5kg from barrier 13 of 14 in that Benchmark 85 and was far from disgraced.

A winner at the distance and Group performed, Pioneering should shine here in an open race from a gun barrier (six) with 55.5kg and Hugh Bowman riding.

Kinshachi represents the Godolphin stable and the John O’Shea-trained daughter of Commands gets the run of the race from the inside alley with Brisbane’s best Jeff Lloyd riding.

Lloyd was aboard the flying four-year-old last time out for a Listed Eagle Farm win, which followed back-to-back Sydney victories and has her peaking in this with the blinkers on.
