Madotti has returned to winning form with a classy performance for success in the Magic Millions Open (1300m) on the Gold Coast this afternoon.
Punters rallied around Madotti in the hours leading up to jump and the mare did her chances of success no harm whatsoever when jumping well and immediately taking up the pace; leading the likes of Miss Cover Girl and My Girl Hayley towards the turn.
Hugging the rails rounding onto the final straight, jockey Tye Angland was greeted with a typically smart turn of foot when he asked for an extra effort and the Falvelon mare pulled clear of her rivals; sustaining well enough to the line to withstand a late challenge by In His Stride.
Trainer Matt Dunn was thrilled with Madotti’s performance for success in the Magic Millions Open; believing that no horse deserves to win a big race that his talented four-year-old.
“It’s fantastic – there’s no more deserved horse to win a decent race than Madotti,” Dunn said after the Magic Millions Open.
“She’s been plagued by bad luck for a long time and it’s certainly great to see her get the job done today.
“Finally she’s drawn a decent gate and I was a bit surprised to see us in front, but it was a very well judged ride by Tye just letting Miss Cover Girl go on straightening and got to the outside, really good.
“When we came to the corner together I thought well this isn’t good, but he got to the right part of the track and she did the rest.”
Madotti resumed this time for a classy win in the Roadwork Solutions BM78 (1200m) on November 26th, and ran a gallant second to Egyptian Symbol in the Wyong Magic Millions 3&4YO Guineas (1200m) on December 22nd, in what was her only other start prior to today’s triumph.
In His Stride flew from the rear of the field to finish a close second in a photo, while ever-consistent Toowoomba horse Jumbo Prince boxed on for third.
