Two of the past three Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) winners came off a run in the Peter Young Stakes including Fiorente (2014) who completed the double a host of weight-for-age horses vie for this autumn.
Due to run as Caulfield Race 6 at 3:30pm (AEDT) on Blue Diamond Stakes Day, the $200,000 Group 2 Crown Lager Peter Young Stakes (1800m) field features 11 runners including last year’s Caulfield Cup winner Jameka for local horseman Ciaron Maher.

The four-year-old daughter of Myboycharlie caught the eye first-up in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) finishing only one and a half lengths away fourth to Black Heart Bart.
Jameka did her best work late in the CF Orr Stakes and will be improved second-up getting out over more distance as she chases her first win since the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) last October.
The other mare in the mix is the Darren Weir-trained Desert King six-year-old Real Love, the former WA based stayer out to improve on her fifth in the Group 3 TS Carlyon Cup (1600m) from CF Orr Stakes Day.
The best out of that race backing-up in the Peter Young Stakes is the fellow Weir-trained Humidor who ran a brilliant second.

Leon & Troy Corstens have Emirates Stakes winner Awesome Rock in barrier four, while the Robert Hickmott-trained The United States kicks off his autumn with an inside run from barrier one.
Also drawn well in barrier two with Craig Williams in the saddle is the John O’Shea-trained Tally who is second-up off a Carlyon Cup third.
The Street Cry four-year-old is undefeated over the Peter Young Stakes distance (2-2-0-0) and is looking for his first win since posting four on the trot around this time last year including the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) at Moonee Valley.
That run led into a third to Tavago in the Group 1 ATC Derby (2400m) in Sydney and 1800m second-up should be ideal this Saturday.
