2017 Golden Slipper Tips & Odds Update

The Golden Slipper 2017 tips are all about the fillies this weekend at Rosehill Gardens with the first three lines of betting led by the girls, but can they get the job done in the world’s richest race for two-year-olds?

Running as Rosehill Race 7 at 4:10pm (AEDT) a capacity field full of class and potential will take to the track for this autumn’s $3.5 million Group 1 Longines Golden Slipper (1200m).

Current $4.40 favourite in Golden Slipper betting 2017 is the Toby Edmonds-trained filly from Queensland Houtzen.

She is out to be the first winner of the race to come off a non-Sydney lead-up since the Black Opal Stakes winner Catbird back in 1999.

Her lead-up run was ultra-impressive as she carted an historic 63kg to a four length Eagle Farm win to make it a perfect four-from-four career start.

The form lines on that are a little hard to do however and so the bookies are also keeping the consistent She Will Reign ($6) and the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy ($5) safe in Golden Slipper odds.

Earlier in the week we published our comprehensive Golden Slipper 2017 Form Guide & Betting Preview and based on the facts and stats uncovered we’ve come up with the Golden Slipper best bets below.

Our 2017 Golden Slipper Trifecta Tip is #12 She Will Reign from #4 Single Bullet and #9 Catchy

1st

#12 She Will Reign ($6)

Don’t think there’s much between some of the gun fillies in this year’s Golden Slipper field, but it is shaping up as a Heavy track and think that it could come down to who handles the mud. Gary Portelli’s filly led betting right up until her first loss when run down by Frolic in the Reisling Stakes. She has won on a previous Heavy track however and did everything right before that. Think she can bounce back returning to Rosehill, comes into gate 11 and with the right run can get the job done.

2nd

#4 Single Bullet ($26)

Huge value in Portelli’s other runner who shapes-up as a genuine chance to finish second to his stablemate. The colt won was third only a length off the winner first-up on a Heavy (8) Randwick track over 1200m in the Skyline before winning the Pago Pago last Saturday. On the quick back-up but is fit, firing, gets through the going and is drawn to win from the barrier.

3rd

#9 Catchy ($5)

So many out of the Blue Diamond are impressive, but hard to knock the winner. This Lindsay Park-trained filly is undefeated and all class. Wet track is the query for her, but she’ll get the right ride from Craig Williams and is a must include in exotics based on what she’s done in Melbourne so far.
