The Champagne Classic 2017 kicks off the JJ Atkins campaign of the winter’s top two-year-olds, betting tips and updated odds on the Doomben 10,000 Day feature found below.
A dozen juveniles are still in the mix for Doomben Race 4 at 2:06pm (AEST) on Saturday afternoon when the $175,000 Group 2 Moet Champagne Classic (1200m) takes place as a lead-up to next month’s Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m).
Updated Champagne Classic betting at Ladbrokes.com.au are all about the firming favourite Snitzkraft ($3.50 into $3.20).
Locally-trained and well-bred, the son of Snitzel is a gun over the 1200m with two wins and a third from four starts over the distance to date.
He blitzed a field over the metres at the Sunshine Coast by over two lengths as the odds-on favourite in late January before a first-up third under two lengths off the winner at Eagle Farm in the Listed Dalrello Stakes (1200m).
He’ll be fitter for the run and the money is coming for him to return to winning form back in stakes class.
The other shortest-priced Champagne Classic odds this Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival belong to Chris Munce’s Group 3 winner Ours To Keep ($5.50) and the Chris Waller-trained Sydney raider Tangled ($7.50).
So will the best in betting dominate the Champagne Classic results or is there value to be had further down the markets in the likes of All Too Huiying ($8.50) from the wide alley or the returning She’s Our Star ($7.50)?
1st
#1 Ours To Keep ($5.50)
Second-up think there’s plenty of improvement in Munce’s class colt who beat Snitzkraft home at Doomben in the Phelan Ready (1100m) last December. Went on to post a Group 3 Eagle Farm win over 1200m on New Year’s Eve, before the summer came undone when defeated in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (9th) at the Gold Coast. Back with a first-up Dalrello Stakes fourth, will be improving off that two in back at Doomben where he’s two-from-two and gets the run of the race from gate four with Damian Browne aboard.
2nd
#2 Snitzkraft ($3.20)
Plenty of money coming for the favourite and is going too well to leave out of the top two. Won two on the trot in January over the 1200m by very impressive margins including here at Doomben by over eight lengths. Jockey Luke Dittman continues his good association with this up-and-coming Kelso Wood-trained youngster who was third in the Dalrello Stakes beaten two lengths and ready to do better back at Doomben.
3rd
#11 She’s Our Star ($7.50)
Danger in the Tony Gollan-trained filly racing for the first time since Christmas Eve. She won at Doomben on debut in easier company and then ran third to Houtzen, who franked the form with her Magic Millions Classic win. There’s a notable class and distance rise here for the daughter of Star Witness, but if she’s on she’ll be flying from the gate (3) and can finish in the money.
Now is the ideal time to discover the benefits of betting online with Ladbrokes.com.au who are offering the best Doomben 10,000 Day Brisbane odds and winter racing markets.
