Ten fillies are set to chase Group 2 success at Royal Randwick on Saturday following the release of 2017 Silver Shadow Stakes nominations this morning.
Lindsay Park will be offered a good opportunity to saddle the quinella in the race after including Tulip and Formality in 2017 Silver Shadow Stakes nominations.
Tulip was a model of consistency throughout her two-year-old campaign and is undoubtedly one of the class fillies of 2017 Silver Shadow Stakes nominations.
An easy winner of a 1000m sprint on debut at The Valley on New Year’s Eve, Tulip made a strong transition to black type company when second behind Limestone in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview F (10000m) on Australia Day.
Fourth in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) four weeks later, the Pierro filly returned to winning form in the Group 3 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) before running third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).
Having clearly had enough by the time she finishing fifth in the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ (1400m), Tulip has trialled well in the lead-up to the Silver Shadow Stakes and would not look out of place in the winner’s stall first-up.
Formality debuted for a comfortable win over 1100m at Werribee on January 5th, before comfortably taking out the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) on February 4th.
Third in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes, the Fastnet Rock filly failed to handle the heavy going in the Golden Slipper, but was sent to the paddock after finishing an agonizingly-close second in the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) on Day 2 of The Championships.
Godolphin will also launch a two-pronged attack after trainer James Cummings included Alizee and Jorda in 2017 Silver Shadow Stakes nominations.
Second in the Magic Night Stakes at only her second career start in autumn, Alizee returned to the paddock after finishing fifth in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) on Day 1 of The Championships.
Resuming for a comfortable win in a Warwick Farm 1100m sprint on August 2nd, the Sepoy filly should take plenty of benefit into her second-up run in the Silver Shadow Stakes.
Jorda has not been seen at the races in 2017 and has only made one career start to date, but more than stamped herself as a filly to follow when a comfortable winner of the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) on October 1st.
Prominent filly Garrard has also been included in Silver Shadow Stakes nominations, along with stable mate Seannie.
The 2017 Silver Shadow Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday (August 16th).
