Due to run as Race 7 at 4:35pm (AEST) on Friday afternoon, this season’s Listed $160,000 Carlton Mid Wyong Gold Cup (2100m) has attracted an eight-starter field.

Red hot favourite leading the Wyong Gold Cup odds at Ladbrokes.com.au is Stormy Atlantic five-year-old Sayed at a current quote of $1.55 for the win.

Drawn in gate seven with Kerrin McEvoy to ride on the 54kg minimum the in-form gelding has run top two in his past seven starts.

His latest win was two back over the mile and a half at Randwick on August 5 carrying 59.5kg to an imposing five length victory with McEvoy in the saddle.

Last time out Sayed went up to 61kg and Hugh Bowman partnered the stayer for a close second when just nudged out of a Benchmark 89 win over the 2400m at Randwick on August 19 behind Auvray.

Waller has a high opinion of Sayed nominating the horse for both the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 21 as well as the iconic Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) over the two miles at Flemington on the first Tuesday of November.

Sayed will be flying on Friday dropping right down in weight and will be very hard to hold out.

Two other runners currently sit under $10 in the Wyong Gold Cup odds with 59kg top weight Destiny’s Kiss ($6) and the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Dee I Cee ($7.50).

Joe Pride’s Power Of Destiny gelding is the veteran of the field, the nine-year-old chasing his first win since a black-type at Randwick on Australia Day in late January.

His latest start was only last weekend at Rosehill when a close fourth in the Listed Premier’s Cup (1900m) under 59kg.

Premier’s Cup winner Dee I Cee carried just 53.5kg to victory in that August 26 victory and will need to be improving going up to 56.5kg in the Wyong Gold Cup.

The six-year-old races at Wyong for the first time and is looking for his first win over further than 2040m.

The best of the double figure chances shape-up as local 60-start veteran Get On The Grange ($11) who was runner-up in July’s Grafton Cup and the rails-drawn Singing ($12) for Kris Lees
