The Group 1 racing action of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival moves to Rosehill Gardens Racecourse today for Golden Rose Stakes Day 2017, scratchings and the updated track report for which are detailed below.

It is a partly cloudy and hot day in Sydney this afternoon with a top temperature of 32 degrees and zero scheduled rain meaning the firm Good (4) track rating is set to remain across the card.

This afternoon’s bumper Sydney race card kicks off at 12:15pm (AEST) and continues through until the last jumps at 5:15pm (AEST).
Punters are treated to a top class day of racing and betting with five Group status races on the program starting early on when 2017 The Metropolitan hopefuls for next weekend line-up in a diminutive Group 3 Colin Stephen Quality (2400m) field that is down to just five runners.
There’s also an early Epsom Handicap 2017 form race to follow into Saturday week when the Group 2 Shannon Stakes runs as Rosehill Race 5 this afternoon, nine runners led in betting at Ladbrokes.com.au by the Chris Waller-trained Dawn Wall ($3) remaining in the mix.
Next-up Race 6 features all 11 original final acceptors for the running of the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) for Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes-bound three-year-olds.
The meeting’s marquee race is of course the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes due to run as Race 7 at 3:55pm (AEST).
There are no scratchings from the official Golden Rose 2017 field and the latest odds have the Gerald Ryan-trained Menari as the easing favourite out to $2.30.
Group racing in Sydney finishes-up with the penultimate event on the card, the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) where two withdrawals leaves 11 mares to do battle including the rails-drawn Omei Sword ($4.40).
