2017 Naturalism Stakes Day Scratchings & Track Report

A key early Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival lead-up meeting takes place at Caulfield Racecourse today and below are the complete Naturalism Stakes Day 2017 scratchings and track report.

There are scattered thunderstorms predicted in Melbourne this afternoon, with a 38% chance of rain from around 1pm – 3pm meaning there could be a downgrade to the current Good (3) Caulfield track conditions.

Caulfield racing kicks off from 12:00pm (AEST) and the nine-race program continues through until 4:55pm (AEST).

Three black-type races take place across the afternoon starting with the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes (Race 6) where Darren Weir’s 2017 The Everestbound Japanese expat Brave Smash is odds-on favourite for the win at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Next-up Caulfield Race 7 features a field of stayers vying for the exemption in next month’s Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) with a Naturalism Stakes win, before the Group 3 action continues with the mares facing off in the How Now Stakes (Race 8).

Boom Time (5) is the only horse out of the Naturalism Stakes field leaving 15 runners led in the open betting markets by Stampede ($4.60).

The How Now Stakes field, run this year as the Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes, has had four official withdrawals leaving 13 contenders including the firming favourite Missrock ($3.90).
