The bookies are taking no chances with the highly-spruiked, unraced Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained filly Terminology who has opened favourite in 2017 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic betting for Thursday.
Drawn in barrier four in the small eight horse field for this summer’s Restricted Listed $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1100m) with Tim Clark to ride, promising Star Witness filly Terminology gets the chance to prove her recent trial form has been no fluke.
She has won both of her official hit-outs, the latest a stunning 10.3 length effort over 900m at Rosehill on December 8 with Clark aboard.
That was enough to see her installed at the top of the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic odds at Ladbrokes.com.au for her debut on Thursday, Terminology paying $2.70 and firming.
Her major target, which she needs to win at Wyong to get enough prize money to make the field of, is then the Gold Coast’s Restricted Listed $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) in Queensland on January 13.
The all-in Gold Coast Magic Millions Classic odds have Terminology as the $8 second elect behind the Tony Gollan-trained Ef Troop ($4.80) who blitzed his rivals at Doomben in last weekend’s Listed Phelan Ready Stakes.
The big danger to Terminology kicking off her career with a win at Wyong this week looking at the markets on the two-years-old classic is Jonker ($3.10) from the Newcastle stables of David Atkins.
On debut at his home track on December 3 the up-and-coming colt, who shares the Queensland sire Spirit Of Boom with Ef Troop, saluted by three lengths over 900m and he is tipped to handle the rise in distance and class on Thursday.
Also under $10 for the win at Wyong are the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Bondi ($4.40) and Lloyd Kennewell’s smart filly La Pomme De Pin ($7).
The equal $9 third favourite in futures Magic Millions 2YO Classic betting for the Gold Coast next month along with Jonker, Snitzel colt Bondi races for the first time since a second on debut behind now 2018 Golden Slipper favourite Performer at Randwick on September 30 in the Listed Breeders Plate (1000m).
La Pomme De Pin has had two career starts to date including a last start victory from the I Am Invincible filly at Ballarat in the Magic Millions 2YO Clockwise Classic (1000m) that she blitzed by five and a half lengths.
Despite sitting No. 1 on the Magic Millions Gold Coast Classic order of entry, La Pomme De Pin still needs to be impressive on Thursday to make the trip to the Sunshine State according to Kennewell.
