2018 Ladbrokes C.F. Orr Stakes Day Results
Race 1 (12:30pm) – $100,000 The Big Screen Company Handicap Results
Khutulun started Ladbrokes C.F. Orr Stakes Day with a narrow win over Downhearted in The Big Screen Company Handicap at Caulfield this afternoon.
It was a very messy race and there were several leaders at different times before Kevin Forrester elected to take up the running on The Mighty JRod and really string the field along.
It was a very messy race and there were several leaders at different times before Kevin Forrester elected to take up the running on The Mighty JRod and really string the field along.
Downhearted hit the front at the top of the straight and the race looked over, but Khutulun was too strong in the final 100 metres and was able to return to winning form.
- 1st – Khutulun
- 2nd – Downhearted
- 3rd – Gallic Chieftain
Race 2 (1:05pm) – $200,000 Group 2 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) Results
The picture for the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes did not get much clearer as Enbihaar claimed victory in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude.
Enhibaar produced another professional performance to make it two wins from as many starts, but perhaps lacked the brilliance that you want to see from a horse heading into the Group 1 event.
Oohood was vetted before the race and got a long way back in the run, but was still able to savage the line in a performance that suggests she remains on track for the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes.
- 1st – Enbihaar
- 2nd – Oohood
- 3rd – Seabrook
Race 3 (1:40pm) – $200,000 Group 3 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) Results
Written By stamped himself as a genuine Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes contender with a smart win in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield this afternoon.
Jordan Childs rode Written By aggressively in the early stages of the race and the outstanding ride may have proved to be the difference.
Written By will press on to the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes in a fortnight, but will likely need to improve on todays effort to win the Group 1 event.
- 1st – Written By
- 2nd – Plauge Stone
- 3rd – Native Solider
Race 4 (2:15pm) – $150,000 Group 3 Ladbrokes TS Carlyon Cup Results
It was an easy watch for punters that took the short odds on offer for Gailo Chop as he cruised to victory in the Ladbrokes Carlyon Cup.
Master Reset took up the running in the early stages and Mark Zahra was more than happy to take a sit on Gailo Chop just behind the leader.
It turned into a sprint home and that was always going to favour Gailo Chop, who simply proved too class in the final stages of the race.
- 1st – Gailo Chop
- 2nd – Harlem
- 3rd – Lord Fandango
Race 5 (2:50pm) – $150,000 Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes Results
Booker looks to have come back a better horse for the Autumn after recording an impressive win in the 2018 Kevin Hayes Stakes.
All the money in the lead-up to the Kevin Hayes Stakes was for Shoals and Tulip, but Booker upstaged them both to lead from start to finish.
The Oakleigh Plate is an option for Booker and she will likely be kept at sprinting distances this preparation.
- 1st – Booker
- 2nd – Leather’n’Lace
- 3rd – See Me Exceed
Race 6 (3:25pm) – $200,000 Group 2 Rubiton Stakes Results
Super Cash made it back-to-back wins in the Rubiton Stakes with a fast-finishing effort at Caulfield this afternoon.
It looked as though Super Cash would be a good thing beaten as she was blocked for a run throughout the straight, but she was eventually able to find clear running.
When she did she absolutely exploded and she finished over the top of Flamberge to claim an outstanding win.
- 1st – Super Cash
- 2nd – Flamberge
- 3rd – Merchant Navy
Race 7 (4:05pm) – $200,000 Group 2 Autumn Stakes Results
Holy Snow stamped himself as a leading contender for the Australian Guineas with an excellent victory in the 2018 Autumn Stakes at Caulfield this afternoon.
It was Prevailing Winds that took up the running in the early stages of the race and ensured that it was run at a genuine tempo, which played into the hands of the backmarkers.
Holy Snow showed an outstanding turn-of-foot when asked for an extra effort and finished over the top of his rivals in scintillating fashion.
- 1st – Holy Snow
- 2nd – Mr So And So
- 3rd – Astoria
Race 8 (4:45pm) – $500,000 Group 1 Ladbrokes C.F. Orr Stakes Results
Hartnell returned to the races with another Group 1 victory in the 2018 Ladbrokes C.F. Orr Stakes at Caulfield this afternoon.
It was a thrilling finish to the C.F. Orr Stakes, but it was Hartnell that got his nose in front at the right time to score a very narrow victory over Single Gaze, Brave Smash and Thronum.
Co-trainer James Cummings was delighted to see Hartnell make a winning return to the races and he hinted that another clash with Winx in the Chipping Norton Stakes could be on the cards.
- 1st – Hartnell
- 2nd – Single Gaze
- 3rd – Brave Smash
