It is a partly cloudy day in Sydney today and with no chance of rainfall the improving Good (4) Randwick track rating looks set to remain, ruling out earlier tips for Soft track performers.
Sydney racing at Royal Randwick gets underway this afternoon at 12:30pm (AEDT) and the nine race card, which is headlined by seven Group status events, continues through until 5:40pm (AEDT).
The meeting’s namesake race is the 2018 Randwick Guineas (Race 7) where all 14 original acceptors are still in play and betting at Ladbrokes.com.au is dominated by the in-form Godolphin galloper Kementari ($2.50).
The other elite level event on the card is the Canterbury Stakes 2018 (Race 6) featuring the return of Happy Clapper who faces eight rivals including the firming favourite Global Glamour ($5).
The other highlight is the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (Race 5) featuring superstar sprinter Redzel who ran second in the race 12 months ago behind English who dually defends her title this afternoon at $5.50 to make it a hat-trick.
The Golden Slipper 2018 two-year-olds also face off in their final lead-ups racing in the Reisling Stakes (Race 3) and Todman Stakes (Race 4), the latter having five early scratchings including Bondi and Encryption who race in Sunday’s Group 3 Black Opal Stakes in Canberra instead.
