2018 The Galaxy Tips: Odds Firm on Snitty Kitty

Money is coming for the consistent Snitty Kitty to salute in Saturday’s Group 1 sprint at Rosehill Gardens but should the mare sit number one on The Galaxy 2018 tips this Golden Slipper Day?

This autumn’s Group 1 $700,000 The Galaxy (1100m) runs as the penultimate event on the weekend’s major race card in Sydney with a field of gun sprinters due to face off at 4:50pm (AEDT).

Secret Agenda (14) and Pariah (5) come out of The Galaxy field in favour of a Moonee Valley run tonight and shape-up as two of the top hopes in the 2018 William Reid Stakes tips.

The Lindsay Park-trained Thronum (8) has also now been scratched from the weight-for-age feature and races in the Group 1 $500,000 William Reid Stakes (1200m) as well.

Updated The Galaxy odds at Ladbrokes.com.au feature four single-figure fancies including the genuine market mover Snitty Kitty backed right in from $11 to $5.50 to salute for Caulfield’s Henry Dwyer.

The four-year-old daughter of Snitzel is yet to race at Rosehill, but is a gun over The Galaxy distance (7:3-3-0) and comes off the close second to Russian Revolution in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) in Melbourne from late February.

The query for Snitty Kitty however is the likely Heavy-rated Rosehill track on Saturday, going the mare is yet to officially race over.

Sitting top of The Galaxy betting markets at $3.90 and out wide is In Her Time, another class mare who has claims despite yet having been tested on a mud track.

Her latest run was at The Valley last October when runner-up in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes (1200m), but the proven first-up performer (5:3-0-0) also has winning form at Rosehill and is two-from-three over the 1100m.

So with two of the best-backed The Galaxy horses a query in the wet, could there be more value tipping the likes of the known mudlark Jungle Edge ($4.20) or even Le Romain ($20) who looks over the odds looking at his Heavy track record and form around Winx?

Our 2018 The Galaxy Trifecta tip is #2 Jungle Edge from #1 Le Romain and #13 Viridine

1st

#2 Jungle Edge ($4.20)

More than happy to stick with a horse that has rewarded us plenty of times with juicy placings in this type of class. Mick Bell’s always honest seven-year-old is constantly under-rated by the punters and bookies, but he’s being kept pretty safe this time around. Still looks the value in the race as the genuine wet track specialist. Rosehill will run in the Heavy range and his form in the mud is second to none (12:6-1-2). His lead-up was outstanding when second to Redzel in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) on a Good (4) and with conditions to suit and no The Everest winner to beat him to the line, he’s the one to back. Carries 55.5kg that is admittedly more than the 51kg he had when a quarter-length third to Russian Revolution in this race on a Heavy (10) last year, but he can handle that weight and go two better.

2nd

#1 Le Romain ($20)

Big The Galaxy odds on offer for Kris Lees’ multiple Group 1 winner Le Romain who resumes here and can surprise plenty fresh in Heavy going. Goes well first-up (5:2-2-1) and is a three-time runner-up from his four previous Rosehill runs. On the mud his form is excellent (6:2-3-0) and he has trialled twice ahead of his return. Randwick Guineas as a three-year-old in 2016, he’s a hard horse to work out the exact distance for and that’s probably why the odds on him here for 1100m are generous. Still, he can’t be faulted in the wet and think he is a genuine chance. Second to Winx in the George Ryder Stakes (1500m) on this day last year.

3rd

#11 Viridine ($5)

Godolphin-raced Poet’s Voice colt looking to go back-to-back for the three-year-olds after The Galaxy win by Russian Revolution (2017). James Cummings’ youngster is undefeated at Rosehill (2:2-0-0) and over the 1100m (2:2-0-0). Comes off a first-up fourth in the Challenge Stakes and better up to 1100m. How does he go in the wet? Has won on Soft-going and the really nice 50kg weight here will help him get through wetter.

Now is the time to back our insider The Galaxy 2018 betting tips at the top Rosehill racing odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.
