Vinery Stud Stakes winner Hiyaam, has drawn the inside barrier for her shot at 2018 Australian Oaks glory on day two of The Championships at Randwick on Saturday.
The High Chaparral filly led from start to finish in the traditional lead-up race and she is currently on the forth line of betting at $6.50 with Ladbrokes.com.au for the Group $1 million Australian Oaks (2400m).
Jockey Michael Dee will be looking to set a similar slow tempo to that in the Vinery Stud Stakes to give her every chance on Saturday. Hiyaam proved her staying credentials when she ran third in the VRC Oaks in the Spring so should have no problem with the 2400m.
Unforgotten is the clear favourite in betting after recording very good late sectionals when chasing Hiyaam last start. She will jump from gate seven and be ridden by Hugh Bowman.
Aloisia was another that comes out of this form line and did the chasing last time out. She came from the rear of the field and will be looking for her second Group 1 win in the Oaks after she won the Thousand Guineas in the Spring.
Luvaluva has recorded two wins from as many starts this prep including an impressive win in the Adrian Knox last Saturday carrying 60kg. She drops back down to set weights in the Australian Oaks and is on the second line of betting. She has drawn the outside barrier and has Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle.
