The Kris Lees trained Invincible Gem has been well supported in the betting for the 2018 Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Invincible Gem has been specked at double figure odds and has firmed in from $16 to be marked at $12 on race eve while the Bjorn Baker trained three year old filly Champagne Cuddles remains the $5.50 favourite.
The I Am Invincible Mare has had two runs in preparation for the Tattersall‘s Club Tiara with a third in the Listed $150,000 Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) at Scone on May 12 followed by a ninth to Santa Ana Lane in the Group 1 $1.5m Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 9.
Invincible Gem has raced five times at Group 1 level with her best results being a second to Inference in the Group 1 $1m Girvan Waugh Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Randwick during the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival and a third to Happy Clapper in the Group 1 $500,000 Bisley Workwear Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Randwick during the 2018 Autumn Carnival.
Brisbane’s premiership winning jockey Jeff Lloyd takes the Tattersall’s Club Tiara ride on Invincible Gem who drew barrier fourteen in the original draw of sixteen plus five emergencies and could move in four spots if all the emergencies fail to gain a start.
Lloyd has been testing Invincible Gem on the tracks and takes over the reins from Brenton Avdulla who has decided to stick with the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Moss Trip who ran a brave race last start when third behind Invincibella and Prompt Response in the Group 2 $200,000 Bundaberg Rum Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) at Doomben a fortnight ago.
“She seems to be well and Kris is pleased with her. Her run in the Stradbroke was solid,” Lloyd said.
Lloyd is set to hang up his saddle at the end of the current racing season and he would dearly love to add another Group 1 win to his glowing international record.
