Arcadia Queen is the favourite in the 2018 Kingston Town Classic field

The lightly weighted Arcadia Queen was installed as the short priced favourite with the release of the final field for the 2018 Group 1 $1m Magic Millions Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot in Perth on Saturday.

Arcadia Queen is the only three year old filly in the Kingston Town Classic field and under the weight for age conditions, only has to carry 50kg which has enticed Perth’s leading jockey William Pike to take the ride on the filly.

Pike has ridden the lightly raced filly in four of her five race starts for three of her four wins, including a last start victory together in the Group 2 $500,000 Sky Racing W.A. Guineas (1600m) at Ascot in Perth, on November 24.

Pike had the choice to ride Arcadia Queen’s stablemate Galaxy Star, who he also has a long term association with, including a last start win in the Group 1 $1m Kirin Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot in Perth on November 24.

Galaxy Star will carry 57kg in the Kingston Town Classic which prompted Pike to stick with the lightly weighted Arcadia Queen leaving Chris Parnham to take the ride on the Railway Stakes winner.

As well and Arcadia Queen and Galaxy Star, co-trainers Grant and Alana Williams will also saddle up Perfect Jewel with Peter Hall in the saddle.

Betting at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Kingston Town Classic has Arcadia Queen marked as the $2.80 favourite ahead of Galaxy Star at $4.80 and the Mackinnon Stakes winner Trap For Fools at $6.

Damien Oliver replaces John Allen on Trap For Fools and the champion jockey is looking for another Group 1 win over the 2018 Ascot Racing Carnival after steering Voodoo Lad to a welcomed Group 1 win in the 1 $1m Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot in Perth last Saturday.

Damian Lane takes the ride again on Railway Stakes runner up Gatting ($16) while Lucy Warwick will stick with Material Man ($8.50) in the Kingston Town Classic after the Justin Warwick trained seven year old produced a handy first up third in the Railway Stakes.

The barrier draw for the 2018 Kingston Town Classic field will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon.

Betting for the 2018 Kingston Town Classic at Ladbrokes.com.au: $2.80 Arcadia Queen, $4.80 Galaxy Star, $6 Trap For Fools, $8.50 Material Man, $14 Holy Snow, $16 Gatting, $18 Iconoclasm, Perfect Jewel, $26 Mister Sea Wolf, $34 Achernar Star, Great Shot, Star Exhibit, $101 Elegant Blast, Heart Starter, Prying Tom.
