Champion trainer Darren Weir has withdrawn Yes Yes Yes from Saturday’s $2 million 2yo Classic (1200m) on the Gold Coast, ending speculation after Racing Queensland’s Chief Steward Peter Chadwick raised concerns surrounding soreness over the rump and hind earlier in the week.
“There was soreness over the rump and a degree of soreness in the near hind,” Chadwick told RSN early on Friday morning.
When asked on the potential cause, Chadwick thought the float trip could be to blame, but it appears as though the two-year-old’s condition has worsened after the original plan was to reevaluate Yes Yes Yes on Saturday morning.
“There could have been many factors, and that may well have been one. It’s really hard to determine” Chadwick said when asked on the idea of a float mishap.
’When considering the whole welfare of the horse, the application (to scratch) was not unreasonable and so we’ve accepted the scratching,’’ Chadwick then told Racing.com.
Yes Yes Yes was the favourite in the Classic market, leaving second-elect Exhilarates to take his place at $4.50. It also leaves emergency Gala Miss as the replacement in the 16 horse field.
As for the future for the future of the two-time winning Rubick colt, Weir still thinks the Blue Diamond is a chance.
“The Blue Diamond is still there as an option, that’s not ruled out. We’ll just get him back to Melbourne now, I haven’t really though too much about how or when yet” Weir said.
Damian Browne To Miss 3yo Guineas Ride
Jockey Damian Browne was scheduled to ride second-elect Boomsara in Saturday’s $2 million 3yo Guineas (1400m), but emergency surgery for severe abdominal pain has forced Tim Clarke into the saddle instead.
