Eagle Farm racing kicks off at 11:10am (AEST) and continues through until the sprinters do battle in the last at 4:15pm (AEST) when the day’s third Group status event – the Group 3 $175,000 W.J. Healy Stakes (1200m) – takes place.
Two have come out of the W.J. Healy Stakes 2019 field with Cradle Mountain (7) and Divine Dice (8) scratched leaving a 14 horse field that is led in betting at Ladbrokes.com.au by co-favourites Victorem and Brave Song at $3.40 each.
The best in WJ Healy Stakes betting have the two inside barriers with market mover Victorem coming off a 1.3 length win in the Listed Hinkler Handicap (1200m) from Stradbroke Day, while Team Snowden’s perennial runner-up Brave Song was last seen running second in the Group 2 Moreton Cup (1200m).
The day’s opening Group race is the Group 3 $200,000 Tattersall’s Cup (3000m) jumping at 2:15pm and in Race 6 the Chris Waller-trained Exoteric (2) has come out.
Just 11 horses remain in the Tattersall’s Cup field for 2019 and Queensland Derby runner-up Vow And Declare is the clear $2.90 favourite.
Of course the feature race in Brisbane this afternoon is the Group 1 $500,000 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) running as Race 8 at 3:35pm.
There’s been a notable Tiara scratching too with Waller’s reigning champion Prompt Response (14) out. Prompt Response won the race 12 months ago when prepared by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.
The withdrawal sees the David Vandyke-trained filly Baccarat Baby gain a start as the first emergency, the three-year-old coming off a second to Kolding in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600m).
