Held on October 19 at Royal Randwick, the $14 million Special Conditions The Everest (1200m) is the richest race on turf and Testa Rossa mare Enticing Star is the latest sprinter to earn a spot in the coveted 12-horse race.

The rising six-year-old has won eight of her 10 career starts to date and will represent her trainer Chris Waller in the weight-for-age event.

“Enticing Star has quickly progressed through the classes,” Waller told The West Australian.

“Her race record shows she is simply a winner.

“We think she can win The Everest. By race day, she’ll be ready to run the race of her life.”

Waller is dually represented in the 2019 The Everest field.

He is both the trainer and slot-holder of the former Adam Durrant-trained Enticing Star, while he also now prepares gun Group 1 Kingston Town Classic winning Pierro filly Arcadia Queen from WA who races for The Star.

Last year Waller’s slot in The Everest was filled by the Darren Weir-trained Brave Smash, third in the inaugural race back in 2017, who finished a disappointing eighth.

This season the master Sydney-based trainer of Winx fame has opted for one of his own, Enticing Star another Bob Peters-owned Perth expat joining his stables this winter onwards.

“We are excited that Enticing Star will take Chris Waller Racing’s slot in The Everest,” Peters said.

“It’s a thrill for us to have two runners.”

Yet to race outside of WA, Enticing Star was last seen running second behind Voodoo Lad from barrier 12 of 14 at Ascot in the Group 1 $1 million Winterbottom Stakes (1200m).

That was the mare’s first star tin Group 1 company and she is currently rated a $15 shot in the latest The Everest odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.

The Everest betting markets are led by Santa Ana Lane ($6).

The Anthony Freedman-trained five-time Group 1 champion and world’s highest-rated sprinter was last seen winning the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) over The Everest track and distance by 3.5 lengths during the autumn.
