Eagle Farm Track Report – 20/07/2019

  • Rail: +6m Entire Course
  • Penetrometer: 4.3
  • Weather: Fine
  • Irrigation: 10mm last 24hrs; 20mm last 7 days
  • Rainfall: Nil
  • Track Rating: Good (4)

It is a typically cool and sunny day trackside at Brisbane’s premier course today meaning the current Good (4) Eagle Farm track rating looks set to remain across the afternoon’s racing.

Queensland Cup Day kicks off at 11:43am (AEST) this morning and the action continues through until the last at 4:43pm.

There is a double-shot of Black-Type action on the card today for punters to get involved with, the first of which is the meeting’s feature race – the Listed $200,000 Queensland Cup (3200m).

One of the few traditional two-mile cup races remaining on the Australian Racing Calendar, the Queensland Cup field this year is down to 11 starters after the scratching of Our Mantra from the Anderson Heathcote Racing partnership.

Queensland Cup odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au are a two-way battle between the market mover and top weight Yogi ($2.80) coming off a first-up second in Rosehill’s Winter Cup and the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Stayers Cup winner over the 3200m on June 29 Azuro ($2.80).

Following the Queensland Cup (Race 7) is the Listed $125,000 Tattersall’s Mile (1600m) where two last-start winners have been scratched – #1 Bergerac (12) and #9 Gold Ambition (4).

Toowoomba horseman Steve Tregea has made the late call not to back-up Bergerac from his Mackay Cup win last weekend, scratching the in-form five-year-old and Ipswich Cup winner from the Tattersall’s Mile field.

Also out is Michael Costa’s 49-start veteran Gold Ambition whose latest run on July 6 produced a mile win at Doomben.

There are 11 horses remaining and favourite in the updated Tattersall’s Mile odds at $2.60 and firming is the Tony Gollan-trained grey Silvera who won over the distance earlier this month at Rockhampton.
