Nominations for this year’s Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes (1200m) closed on Tuesday with a bumper lineup of 50 hopefuls looking to enter the $1 million Friday night feature at The Valley on October 25.

James Cummings-trained Osborne Bulls has been installed as the early favourite after a long string of runner-up’s in his last five starts. Also representing Godolphin is Alizee, winner of last months Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) and Flit, who also holds a nomination in the Thousand Guineas and the Cox Plate.
Osborne Bull heads the market alongside co-favourite Santa Ana Lane, who was scratched from last week’s The Shorts at Randwick in what was supposed to be his return to Australia following a stint in Hong Kong.
The Anthony Freedman-trained seven-year-old became a four-time Group 1 winner back in March winning the T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick before running fourth in the Chairman’s Sprint (1200m) at Sha Tin.
Nature Strip sits on the second line of betting with Ladbrokes.com.au, making up a strong hand for trainer Chris Waller. The talented sprinter will step out this Friday night in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m), while Yes Yes Yes and Zousain all hold a nomination for the Manikato Stakes race in 2019.
