The last of five Group 1 races on the Golden Slipper Day card, this year’s $700,000 The Galaxy (1100m) has attracted a capacity line-up of potential TJ Smith Stakes-bound horses.

Now into barrier 10 first-up for jockey Tommy Berry is $5.64 million earner Pierata.

The five-year-old Pierro entire was last seen racing at the Rosehill track last November for his win in the $1 million Redzel Stakes (1300m).

He has winning form over The Galaxy distance of 1100m however having claimed the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) in Sydney last September and is a noted first-up performer.

Brought on for his 2020 race debut with two Sydney lead-up trials, Pierata is also one of the best performed wet track horses on the day and looks to get conditions to suit fresh.

The latest The Galaxy odds at Ladbrokes.com.au have Pierata as the $4.50 favourite with four of his rivals also under double-figures for the win.

The $6.50 second elect is Cosmic Force (12), but the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Deep Field colt is not yet guaranteed a run.

As the first emergency he needs just one scratching to gain a start in The Galaxy field where he will look to add to his commanding record of three wins and four starts to date.

The gun three-year-old has had three runs over the distance for three second place efforts and was last seen running a first-up second to Villami in the Listed Fireball Quality (1100m) at Randwick a fortnight back.

Cosmic Force has even better form at Rosehill and will be coming right back in weight from 59kg to just 50kg (likely to carry 50.5kg) should he get a shot.

Drawn well in barrier six for the Godolphin stable at $7 is then Damien Oliver’s mount Savatiano, the James Cummings-trained daughter of Street Cry looking to add to the recent good record of mares in The Galaxy results.

Winner of Newcastle’s $1 million The Hunter (1300m) in the spring, Savatiano resumed with a first-up Rosehill victory by nearly three lengths in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m).

She then ran an eye-catching second behind The Bostonian in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) last start, but will need to be at her best dropping back in distance.

Joe Pride’s last start Group 3 Wenona Girl Handicap winning So You Think mare Fasika ($7.50) and Deprive ($8.50) are the other best in The Galaxy betting.

Deprive is one of the three additional stablemates of Savatiano lining-up for Cummings in the Royal Blue in this year’s race, Kerrin McEvoy to ride the 1100m specialist.

The Denman five-year-old has posted three wins from four starts at the distance and looks fit second-up after the credible fifth behind Nature Strip at Randwick on March 7 in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) when carrying five kilos more than his 53.5kg allocation for Saturday.
