The forecast for Adelaide today is for a cool, clear day and with no chance of any rainfall across the afternoon the current Soft (5) Morphettville track rating looks set to remain.
Adelaide racing kicks off for The Goodwood Day at 11:30am (ACST) and the nine-race card continues through until the fillies and mares face off in the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) at 4:35pm (ACST).
The first of the Group support acts on the program runs as Race 2 with the two-year-olds facing off in the Group 3 National Stakes (1200m) ahead of a potential trip to Brisbane for the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m).
A capacity field of young stayers face off a little later in the afternoon for the Group 3 SA Fillies Classic (2500m), while there are two scratchings leaving 14 hopefuls for the Group 3 RA Lee Stakes (1600m) taking place as Race 7.
Of course, the race all punters are waiting for is Race 8 at 3:55pm (ACST) when the Group 1 $400,000 The Goodwood (1200m) steals the show.
There is one official scratching out of The Goodwood field with the Chris Bieg-trained Free Of Debt (14) coming out leaving 14 class sprinters.
Updated The Goodwood betting at Ladbrokes.com.au has Gordon Richard’s last start RN Irwin Stakes winner Gytrash as the clear $3.70 favourite followed by the likes of the race’s 2018 champ Santa Ana Lane ($7.50) and the Godolphin-raced market mover Trekking ($7.50).
