The weather in Brisbane today is for rainfall across the afternoon meaning there could be a downgrade to the current Good (4) Eagle Farm track rating.
Brisbane racing gets underway for Tiara Day at 11:43am (AEST) and the nine-race card continues through until the winter sprinters do battle in the Group 3 $175,000 W.J. Healy Stakes (1200m) at 4:34pm (AEST).
The notable omission from the 2021 WJ Healy Stakes field is Tony Gollan’s Group 2 Moreton Cup winner Baller (10) who was scratched earlier in the week needing to undergo minor surgery for an entrapped epiglottis.
Updated WJ Healy Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au on the card closer is led by class filly Away Game, while there’s been a huge move on the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Jen Rules – third emergency for the Tiara – to return to winning form.
The opening Group status race on the program is the Group 3 $200,000 Tattersall’s Cup (2400m) running over the mile and a half at 2:42pm (AEST) as Race 6.
The 2021 Tattersall’s Cup field is down to just nine runners with the early withdrawal of the Kris Lees-trained Wild Sheila (8) and there’s an odds-on favourite in Incentivise chasing a sixth win on the trot in the potential Caulfield Cup lead-up.
The meeting’s marquee event is of course the Group 1 $600,000 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) for the fillies and mares scheduled to run as Race 8 at 3:58pm (AEST).
Sixteen of the 17 original Tattersall’s Tiara final acceptors remain in the mix with betting a close affair between Michael Moroney’s Stradbroke Handicap winner Tofane looking to do the double and the spring’s Thousand Guineas winning filly Odeum out to return to her best form.
First emergency Sierra Sue has gained a start in the 2021 Tatt’s Tiara field following the scratching of Rocha Clock (swollen hind leg).
