Following last Saturday’s abandoned Sunshine Coast race meeting, the decision has been made to reschedule Caloundra Cup Day 2021 including the Group 3 Winx Guineas to this Sunday, July 11th.
Heavy rainfall and an unsafe racing surface forced Racing Queensland and Sunshine Coast Turf Club officials to call off last weekend’s meeting, the final Queensland Winter Racing Carnival events now taking place eight days later.
There’s a triple-shot of Black-Type racing on the program headlined by the three-year-olds facing off in the $175,000 Group 3 Winx Guineas (1600m).
The marquee race is the $175,000 Listed Caloundra Cup (2400m), with the always popular $175,000 Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) the other feature on the card.
Updated Caloundra Cup Day nominations close at 11:00am (AEST) on Tuesday, with acceptances out on Thursday.
There is likely to be a different looking Caloundra Cup field on Sunday with a number of stayers likely to instead contest the $200,000 Listed Grafton Cup (2350m) in New South Wales this Thursday instead.
All-in betting on the key races will open at Ladbrokes.com.au following nominations.
