My Whisper 2022 Australasian Oaks Field & Betting

Peter & Paul Snowden’s in-form Group 3 Auraria Stakes winner My Whisper is clear favourite to step-up and salute in elite level company in this Saturday’s Australasian Oaks 2022 at Morphettville.

This season’s Group 1 $502,250 Australasian Oaks (2000m) field remains at capacity with the first two emergencies gaining a run.

Scratched from the line-up are the Danny O’Brien-trained ATC Oaks winner El Patroness (8) due to a hoof abscess and Chris Waller’s widely-drawn Pretty Amazing (19).

In their place come controversial original omission due to a balloting clause Bundle Of Fun (6) and the Roots out to hand her Waller with his third win in the race.

Jockey John Allen comes aboard Bundle Of Fun for Patrick Payne having picked up the ride after initially being booked to partner El Patroness.

Updated Australasian Oaks odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au have the airborne My Whisper on top at $3.80 and firming.

This talented daughter of Frankel has won her last four on the trot and is unbeaten since her seventh on debut at Geelong back in September last year.

It’s been a steady rise through the ranks with her latest run seeing her step-up to Group company for the first time to win at the Morphettville track on April 9 in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m).

She now chases the Auraria Stakes – Australasian Oaks double last completed by Sopressa (2018) and is drawn a treat in barrier three for Jamie Kah.

My Whisper is bred for the 2000m distance and gets a soft run from that gate giving the punters plenty to get excited about ahead of her first Group 1 test.

So dominant a favourite is My Whisper that just two other fillies join her under double-figures in Australasian Oaks betting with the widely-drawn Daisies ($9) for Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr and the Kevin Corstens-trained Bon’s A Pearla ($9.50).

Sebring filly Daisies has work to do from the gate (17) but remains a danger based on her good lead-up form.

She was a credible fifth under three lengths beaten last November in the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) and has been solid this time in.

Two back she won the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley over Bon’s A Pearla and had her latest start at the Morphettville track when third as the beaten odds-on favourite in the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m).

She gets the chance to atone here back against her own kind and if she gets across from the gate can present late.

Bon’s A Pearla meanwhile gets the run of the race from barrier five with Jack Hill retaining the ride on the consistent daughter of Bon Hoffa.

She was excellent at Flemington earlier in the autumn when third to Hitotsu only a length beaten at a blow-out price in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m).

Carried 59kg when runner-up in the Alexandra Stakes and was from disgraced when three-quarters of a length off My Whisper in the Auraria ahead of their rematch on Saturday.

If you’re not with the favourites there looks a host of value in this year’s Australasian Oaks with the likes of: Tony & Calvin McEvoy’s Auraria Stakes third place-getter Mac ‘N’ Cheese ($12), Group 1 performed Deep Impact filly Glint Of Hope ($11), recent Group 2 Kewney Stakes winner in Melbourne Barb Raider ($13) and the progressive Michael Moroney-trained So You See ($13) not without their claims at the title.

The 2022 Australasian Oaks is set to run as Morphettville Race 7 at 3:32pm (ACST) and full markets courtesy of Ladbrokes.com.au are available here.
