Pretty In Pink Looks To Improve in Flight Stakes

Pretty in Pink continues her Spring campaign at Randwick on Saturday, and trainer John O’Shea thinks his three-year old filly is every chance ahead of the $500,000 Darley Flight Stakes (1600m).

Pretty in Pink, above, resumes third-up in the Darley Flight Stakes on Saturday.

“We’ve had in our minds all preparation that this would be the race she’s most effective, and hopefully that’s the case,” O’Shea told SkyRacing on Saturday morning.

Firming from $7.00 into $6.00 as the second-elect with Ladbrokes, the stable are hoping the daughter of Sebring can improve on her third placing in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) on the same track a fortnight ago.

According to O’Shea, jockey Tye Angland will will also be looking to improve from the inside draw.

“We’ve notified the stewards our intention is to be a little closer if we can,” O’Shea said.

“I think if she can just cross one or two early and get herself to a nice spot, she can give herself a chance early.”

Third last back on the fence was no help to Pretty in Pink’s chances last time out. Fortunately, she jumps from barrier 5 this weekend, giving her every chance to run down $2.10 favourite, Miss Fabulass.

“She’s a dream, got a lovely demeanor and just wants to please you every day, easy to train” O’Shea went on to say.

Running the third fastest final 200m wasn’t enough to take down Kris Lees’ talented three-year old in the Tea Rose, who won comfortably by a length and a half.

Miss Fabulass jumps from a near identical barrier on Saturday hoping to make it back-to-back wins.

Nominated for the $500,000 Thousand Guineas (1600m) next month, a win for Miss Fabulass would more than ensure her a spot, and would likely see her firm from $12 into the favourite ahead of Smart Melody.
