The Group 2 2016 Dane Ripper Quality, also known as the Dane Ripper Stakes, is one of the feature races held on Queensland Oaks Day at Eagle Farm Racecourse during the annual Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.
Conducted on a Saturday in early June the 1400m fillies and mares set weights plus penalties showdown is worth $200,000 in prize money and is one of five Group races held at the meeting which is headlined by the three-year-old fillies facing off the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m).
The 2016 Dane Ripper Quality will run on Stradbroke Handicap Day, Saturday 11 June, 2016.

A nice lead-up race to the Dane Ripper Quality is the $150,000 Group 3 Moreton Stakes (1350m) held at Eagle Farm’s sister course, Doomben, two weeks earlier on the always-popular Doomben Cup Day.
Some of the better females that contest the Dane Ripper each year could progress a week later to contest Queensland’s richest race – the $1.36 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap which is run over the same track and distance.
The Dane Ripper Quality also makes an excellent preparatory run for mares moving onto the final Group 1 race of the carnival, the $500,000 Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) run back at Eagle Farm three weeks later.
One of the star mares to complete the tough Dane Ripper Quality – Tattersall’s Tiara (then called the Winter Stakes) double was Tripping back in 1996.
Another famous Tattersall’s Tiara (Winter Stakes) winner to have come via the Dane Ripper was Russeting who finished fourth in the Dane before their upset Tiara victory in 2009.

Dane Ripper Quality History
Inaugurated in 2003, the Dane Ripper Stakes was originally a Listed race.
The high class of mainly locally-trained fillies and mares attracted to the winter feature however saw it gain Group 3 status in 2006.
Three years later in 2009 the event, named in honour of champion 1997 Cox Plate winner Dane Ripper who was prepared by Bart Cummings, became a Group 2 feature and since then has continued to draw quality fields.
