On Saturday, champion mare Typhoon Tracy outclassed her rivals to claim an emphatic victory in the $400 000 Group 1 Sportingbet Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
Trained by Peter Moody, Typhoon Tracy was installed as the clear favourite at $1.40 and lived up to all expectations to beat home Heart Of Dreams ($6.50) by a length with the Bart Cummings-trained roughie Sirmione ($81) a mere short-head back for third.
It was the first Group 1 victory for the four-year-old daughter of Red Ransom in an open field of rivals, proving just how strong a competitor Typhoon Tracy is.
The only female in the elite field on Saturday, Typhoon Tracy, ridden by Luke Nolen, trailed the pacesetter Danzylum early on, settling in an ideal position to sprint home for the win in the final 200m in a blistering 10.8seconds.
The 2010 CF Orr Stakes win was Typhoon Tracy?s eighth consecutive victory, boosting her career record to an imposing eight wins from only 11 starts for over $1.4million in prizemoney.
Last year?s impressive Melbourne Cup winner Shocking failed to fire in the C F Orr Stakes, finishing second last.
