Trainer Anthony Cummings is confident in the chances of little-known runner Spy Decoder in this weekend’s Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m), despite the three-year-old yet to line up for an event at Group level.

Securing a strong career start of two wins and one second from just four competitive starts so far, Cummings told AAP it was the Testa Rossa gelding’s most recent run for fourth amongst classy company in the Listed South Pacific Classic (1400m) on April 19th that is likely to figure as a key indicator of form and class.
“He blew the start and in a race that was leader dominate he was the only horse to make up ground” Cummings said.
“I think he’s got a really good future and the step up to the Guineas is going to be suitable for him.”
Debuting with an impressive run to finish an unlucky second in the Pro Ali Design Maiden Handicap (1200m) on March 6th, Spy Decoder more than stamped his claims as one to watch when strolling home to win the Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Maiden (1350m) on March 18th before repeating the dose in the Pro-Ride Maiden (1400m) prior to his most recent performance.
Allocated the ideal barrier 4 for the 2014 Hawkesbury Guineas, Spy Decoder has been confirmed to be partnered by in-form jockey Brenton Avdulla and is currently featured as tied sixth favourite for success in betting markets at generous $10 odds.
A member of the in-form Team Hawkes Stable, Chautauqua is currently sole occupant of the top line of betting for success in the 2014 Hawkesbury Guineas at $4.40 odds, ahead of Northern Glory ($5), Katie’s Cove ($6) and clear market mover Kasiano Lad ($9).
