Diamond Jubilee Stakes Ideal for Brazen Beau

Confirming the three-year-old has arrived in good order and has taken well to his time abroad; trainer Chris Waller has revealed the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (1200m) on the final day of the Royal Ascot Carnival as his ideal target for Brazen Beau.

Brazen Beau was a standout performer for Waller over the Spring Carnival, but truly announced his racing arrival with two exceptional performances amongst open company in Group 1 feature races; running second to Lankan Rupee in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) before seeing off the world’s best sprinters by more than three lengths in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m).

Having also been included in nominations for the Group 1 King Stand Stakes (1000m) five days prior to the Diamond Jubilee, Waller told the Daily Telegraph he is confident the conditions of the 1200m feature will play directly into Brazen Beau’s strengths.

“I want to run in the Diamond Jubilee and we are hopeful the weather forecast shows we will get a good track for the race,” Waller said.

“In my opinion, Brazen Beau needs a good track and more importantly the 1200m because he will then get the chance to travel on the bridle through the race.

“Over 1000m, he might be off the bridle and not get the chance to let down like we know he can.

“He did lose a bit of weight on the trip over but we planned for that – he got on the plane looking a bit ‘pretty’ but he’s settling in well.”

Posting five wins and a further three minors through just ten career starts so far, Brazen Beau announced his racing arrival over a standout 2014 Brisbane Winter Carnival; highlighted by success in the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) and second place finishes in each of the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) and Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m).

Returning in spring for a credible fifth amongst talented company in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m), the I Am Invincible colt returned to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) before breaking through for a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on November 1st.

Ladbrokes.com.au is currently offering the best 2015 Diamond Jubilee Stakes odds, for which Brazen Beau currently rates as outright $3.80 favourite.
