2015 Darley Classic Late Mail Tips

Nine runners remain in contention for this afternoon’s 2015 Darley Classic at Flemington Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Chautauqua remains clear favourites in 2015 Darley Classic betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au after returning to racing in particularly slick form this time and should prove very tough to beat from barrier 4.

Capping a strong 2014 campaign second in the Darley Classic, Chautauqua returned this year for success in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) before running second in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m).

Breaking through for a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) during The Championships, the Encosta De Lago gelding has taken out each of the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m), Group 2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) leading into the Darley Classic.

Srikandi received plenty of attention in 2015 Darley Classic betting markets following the confirmation of the final field earlier this week, and remains sole occupant of the second line at a quote of $7.50.

Stamping her claims as one to watch as a three-year-old, Srikandi returned to racing for success in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) but failed to figure in either of the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) or Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m).

Producing a monumental turn of foot to take out the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m), the Dubawi mare returned to the paddock after repeating the dose in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on June 18th.

Srikandi attacked the line for second in the Manikato Stakes first-up and is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from the run.

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner currently available at 2015 Darley Classic odds of less than $10, Terravista ($8.50) won the Darley Classic in 2014 and is positioned well for a success defence this afternoon from barrier 1.

Running third in each of the Newmarket Handicap and TJ Smith Stakes most notably in autumn, Terravista delivered a handy field defeat in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) first-up this time but failed to run on in the Manikato Stakes last time.

Mudlark Tiger Tees ($71), five-time Group 1 winner Boban ($21) and veteran sprinter Buffering ($15) all offer exceptional value, but four-year-old Delectation ($16) arguably figures as the unknown quantity in the Darley Classic and should be considered at $16 odds or $3.30 to finish in the firs three.
